Folks, we are getting closer and closer to the event where Apple will reveal the next upgrade to their tablet. As such, the rumor mill will probably be getting pretty chaotic. There has been a lot of talk about the possibility that the next iPad will have retina-display. As this reports continues, there has been several new rumors that were tweeted by iLounge’s Jeremy Horwitz. According to Horwitz, the next tablet from Apple (which we assume will be called the iPad 3), is going to have a front camera that is as powerful as the iPhone 4S’s camera. With this change, the iPad 3 will have FaceTime HD capabilities. Horwitz also said that the main, back camera will be identical to the iPhone 4 or 4S’s camera. Another stunning fact to note, Horwitz proclaimed that the iPad 2 will be dropped down to $399, this fact is a huge bargain for buyers:
“Looks likely that iPad 2 will stick around at lower price point, say $399, and next iPad with high-def screen + cameras will sit atop it.”
With the price dropping, Apple would be able to market to low end tablet consumers. Horwitz also reported that the new tablet will be a millimeter thicker compared to its predecessor. This extra thickness would provide more hardware improvemnts. All in all, the design will be almost identical to the iPad 2:
“Curve radiuses on the body will change only a little to accommodate the added thickness, not dramatically. Think iPad 2 Pro, not a redesign.”
The ETA for this device is around March. The cost of this new device will be like the other iPads before, $499
